My intent is to use skins that have four color slots, then let the user pick the four color slots. Long term, we can do more with this if we need to. My intent is to have a folder "unit insignias," and to add png files to that folder via dynamic download to represent teams. Team icons could be any picture, but could be complained on if they were vulgar, etc.
If you want to look at like Macross, there are a few different models of Veritech fighters. But most of these are just obtained by adding more pieces at set locations, such as armor, bigger rockets, or whatever. That is the intent behind this system -- to get the variety from accessories rather than from having a huge variety of basic suits. Four basic suits (as an example) with 20 different front leg attachments means that there are 80 different suit styles, versus being able to make eight or twelve suit models with unique legs.
I just thought of something... perhaps we can make the "loadout" panel in the game have several "layers" (such as one "tab" takes care of internal structure, the next would be power systems and ECM gear..etc).. what you think? I belive it would make the system rather managable, and not take up a lot of space on the screen. (Eiji)
